Amazon has the Apex AD-2500 Progressive Scan DVD Player for $59.94. Plays DVD, VCD, SVCD, CD, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3, and HDCD-encoded discs. JPEG and Kodak picture-CD compatible as well. Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel digital output This DVD player is not region hacked yet, but even without it, this is a good price! Good reviews on Amazon.

Uhh. This has been the same deal for about a year now.

I did get one of these for $60 and it's great. Only 2 things about it I don't like:

1. if you hit the power switch while the drawer is open it just cuts the power. The drawer does not close/retract.

2. The audio out digital/analog will not work at the same time. Switching the audio out option is cumbersome.

Other than that it plays most formats, is progressive scan and it rocks.

Does it support reading DVD+R or DVD-R...it doesn't say just says DVD (NTSC)? Would be greatful if someone could let me know. :)
 
As an "actual" owner I can say it plays all formats of DVD+-R/W & R. One warning. If you are going to burn your own DVD movies, be sure to included not only the VIDEO_TS folder, but the AUDIO_TS folder as well. This player will not play burned DVD's without it.

I have tested the following media with no problems:

DVD - all formats
Windows Media and AVI formats - Does not play streaming files.
JPG - Nice viewer
MP3 - Basic player but good enough
Audio CD's - And HD audio which I have not tried.
VCD
SVCD
