BI agents raided Ferrer Aviation at Lakeland Linder Airport Wednesday, hauling off boxes and computers.
The agents also raided two homes, one about a mile from the airport and another in north Lakeland at Danny Ferrer's home. Ferrer owns Ferrer Aviation.
Agents would not say why they conducted the raids, and an FBI spokeswoman in Washington, D.C., would only say that affidavits on their investigation were sealed.
Ferrer says the FBI has told him little about the raids, but he thinks it has something to do with an Internet company he owns that sold computer software by Adobe Systems Inc.
"All that I have been told is that it is an issue of copyright infringement," Ferrer said. "What that is, I do not know."
Ferrer said his company, buysusa.com, has done nothing illegal in the way he has sold Adobe software and thinks Adobe wants him out of business. Ferrer says that buysusa.com has been effectively shut down by the FBI because the company's servers have been seized.
"They file a charge like this," Ferrer said. "Of course the federal government comes and seizes everything and by the time they sort it all out in court you are out of business."
A company spokesperson at Adobe Systems wasn't available to discuss the situation.
