I always thought google.com was IT.

Penpen told me about Vivisimo
http://vivisimo.com/ - very nicely organized results

Another buddy told me about
http://www.a9.com - Shows image/html result. Can't find anything too special yet, but haven't played with it that much.

Any other ones? I heard Microsoft is working on one as well?

i still dont know why you would use anything but google ;)
yeah, google is pretty awesome :D

sometimes, though, i find that using a different search engine will give me results that google or another search engine didn't find. also vivisimo groups search results into categories, sometimes making it easier to find something specific that you're looking for.

=)

Google is good, but I think its like the iPod of the search engines. Only difference is Google is cheap. ;)

BTW, I just checked out Vivisimo.com and it seems pretty good! :bigok:

Just found out about ZabaSearch. This thing is a beast if you want to find someone!

   That's scary!! Name, current and old address and phone and month and year of birth right there.

MSN has one too. search.msn.com

But I prefer Google cause it has a desktop program so you can search your computer really really fast. Just type in a word & you get a fast list of what you have on your HD with that word.

I agree with you there. I've been hired a couple of times to track people down, but I didn't hear of ZabaSearch until after the fact. Something else that scares me though, is one of the searches I did was for someone with an unlisted number and all I was given was their name and city. I found their phone number (along with their driver's license number) on the county assessor's online Web site. When I did this to myself earlier, I saw the size of my house, how much it appraised for, the taxes paid, etc.

It is pretty scary, especially since I am a fairly private person myself.

:hmm: From other threads, we do know what you do, and we (at least I) do know your name and which state that you live, possibly your address, too ;) And that's just with Spoofee forum, there's no private means of communication whatsoever. Now, is that why you said "fairly"? :)

I do not want to start any war or argument of any kind (warning), but I do believe, except for the basic things that pertains to our survival (SSN, bank account numbers, etc), we would be more honest and better society if we open ourselves up. The ability for us to do things in the "dark" is what kills us. And by the way of privacy makes it even more possible for us to have dark secrets. What if everybody knows my name, where I live, what I do, who my relatives are, where I hang out, what my hobbies are, as long as the same information is available about them. I think 9/11 can certainly be avoided if we're an open society, those terrorists cannot hide themselves as the community around them will be suspicious enough to raise questions. This is just my opinion.

A9 is owned by Amazon... from what I can tell it uses Google results..

Does anyone know of a place where you can search by license plate?
