Access Point Out of Stock

I placed my order and got a call the next day saying that the access point would not be included on the order because it was out of stock. I was encouraged to call back in 10 days and re-order it.

I called the customer service line (800-333-3330) to ask about the $20 coupon and they assured me that it would still be added to the order. So, I may actually make money off this with the just the USB NIC and the kneaded eraser I added on to bring it up to the $100 mark for the coupon!

BTW, I already received my kneaded eraser. The eraser itself is about 1.75x1x0.25 inches (less than 0.5 cubic inches). It arrived in a box that is about 13x10x5 inches (650 cubic inches). Included in the box was a large, wadded piece of paper, for packing purposes, and a piece of paper showing the carton contents. I couldn't believe it when I opened the box and couldn't find anything in it except paper, until I dug a little bit and saw the eraser. None of my office mates can believe it, either.

If you don't get your item in time how you going to do the rebate?

Btw, there is a 12% customer appreciation day coupon out you can use instore.

So, usb adapter, $39- $4-30 rebate= $5 or so.

If I understand it right, I am still to receive the USB NIC. I will not receive the access point. But I still get to keep the $20 coupon on the order. So, the order comes to something like $39.98 (USB NIC) + $0.63 (eraser) -$20 (coupon) + $1.30 (tax) = $21.91 - $30 (rebate) = -$8.09 (payment). So, if my numbers are right I should come out a bit over $7 ahead after paying postage, etc. on getting the rebate mailed off.

Sorry I wasn't clearer on what is happenning. Or maybe I'm blinded to something because of being giddy about getting a good deal from something Spoofee.com pointed me to (again). If so, let me know!

Just a FYI: the rebates are valid for purchases thru 9/18 so don't panic if something is out of stock atm. give it a few days and try again. :)

Sadness abounds

Well, Staples kind of did OK by me on this. When I ordered this deal from them the web site let everything go through, including the coupon. Then someone left a message on my voicemail letting me know that the access point was not currently available but I could try to order it later. I called the customer service line to find out if the coupon would still be honored and was told, on two different calls, that it would be. They would not send me a new invoice because the billing part of the system had not been updated to show that the access point was not available.

I received the access point today and called to see if I could get an updated invoice from them so I would be sure of what would be charged to my CC. They told me that they would not honor the coupon now since the item that had the coupon attached to it (?) had been removed from the order. I was a little miffed but was still polite and asked for information so that I could return the USB NIC and the eraser since I wasn't getting the deal that I had started out getting.

The lady was very nice and, after leaving me on hold for a couple of minutes, told me that I should pack up the USB NIC and someone would contact me about shipping arrangements for it. I asked her if I should put the eraser in that box and she said it would have to be shipped to a separate place. I told them that I would be OK keeping the eraser since it seemed silly to actually spend any money shipping a $0.63 piece of rubber all around the country. The lady told me that I could keep the eraser, compliments of Staples.

So, sadly, I will not be able to get the nifty networking stuff that I wanted but I am happy with Staples having a nice customer service rep and a good return policy. I do not understand why I was told, twice, that the coupon would be applied and then told that it would not be applied. I actually did not expect them to apply the coupon after part of the order was canceled (by them). Since they told me that they would honor it I feel a little put out that they changed their story.

So, I guess I'll enjoy my nice eraser and keep on looking for deals from Staples.
