Ben and Jerry's - Free Cone Today 04/17/07 from 12pm - 8pm

Tuesday, April 17 - 12:00 Noon - 8:00 p.m. - Ben & Jerry's Free Cone Day & Ken Hoffman/Houston Chronicle's Pethouse Pet of the Week Reunion benefiting Citizens for Animal Protection - Every year since two real guys named Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield celebrated the first anniversary of their ice cream shop by giving away free ice cream as a way to say Thank You to their customers, the tradition has continued. This year, over 350 Ben & Jerry's shops around the country will celebrate Free Cone Day on April 17th.

Additionally, from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Ken Hoffman, Houston Chronicle Columnist, and representatives from Citizens for Animal Protection will be on hand for a reunion of all the dogs that have been adopted through Ken's "Pethouse Pet of the Week" feature in every Sunday's paper. If you've ever adopted one of Ken's dogs, or you've adopted another dog at CAP, bring them out to the Square.

Help us raise some money for CAP and enjoy some free Ben & Jerry's ice cream, too.

i found this on wikipedia:

Each year on one day either in late April or early May, Ben & Jerry's observes Free Cone Day, on the anniversary of its opening, as a "thank you" to its customers. On this day, over one million cones are given away. The 28th annual Free Cone Day was held on April 25, 2006. The 29th annual Free Cone day will be April 17, 2007.

As a former ben n jerrys employee, I hated this day because people go crazy for a scoop of free ice cream :/
 
~just a quick bit of advice...check the website for locations, not every shop is participating...:bigok:
 
i work in downtown Ann Arbor Michigan across the street from a ben and jerry's and they had a line longer then a city block from 12-8:30 pm. needless to say i never got a chance to go over there. and its on a University campus and no one was donating from what the owner was telling me today. :( its sad that our future college students wont throw a buck or two for something like this.
 
I went a little after 5pm. I only had to wait about 15 mins at the most. I got mint chip. It was the first time I've gotten a cone on free cone day. Last year the line was out to the parking lot when I drove by! I guess I got lucky this year.
 
Waited about 6 minutes in line...in Thousand Oaks, CA
Kids got Phish Food and Sweet Cream and Cookie.
I tried the New Sugar Free Vanilla w/ Chocolate Chunk, so good!!!
