that is a CRAZY deal. B&H photovideo (the best and usually cheapest place to buy camera gear in my opinion) has the same deal for $1100!

what a deal!
 
I call 4 Best Buys in the San Diego area and the cheapest price I could find was $909.00 for an open box item. Any ideas on where the $799.00 price tag came from?
 
This looks like a great deal. I would buy a couple just to ebay them if I wasn't out of the US.

I had the same question. The best I could find in the SEMass area was a $1200 open box.
 
I am guessing that someone got the 20d mixed up with the Rebel XT. The Rebel Xt is....you guessed....$799 on Best Buy
 
I got the 20D for $799 in San Antonio. It was in the clearance section, not with the other cameras.
 
But are these items refurbished or otherwise NOT new? I'm seriously considering buying about 15 of them for ebaying purposes... on the serious.
 
Well, if you think about it, the Canon 30d is now out....
Rumor has it, that the 40d is going to be out very soon.

Also, the Rebel XT is being replaced with the XTi (aka the 400d)

I bought my 20d a litte more than a year ago for $1200 plus tax (after rebates) from B&H.
 
I stand corrected. When I went down to look at the 20D for $909 and decieded to still purchase the camera. When they rung it up, it scanned for $799. The employees didn't even know that the priced had dropped. My suggestion is to call around to find a 20D and if they tell you a different price, ask them to scan the item. Hope this helps.
