I ordered a Micro SD from buy.com http://www.spoofee.com/forums/showthread.php?t=51107

The order was shipped without any box or UPC code in it, looks like a refurbished one. I need the UPC for my rebate also.

This is the first time I am getting into trouble with Buy.com

On 1-18-07 they had a one-day $5 rebate (in addition to an existing $30 rebate) on a Kingston 2GB Data Traveler "thumb drive". Both required "original" UPC from packaging. A call to Buy.com assured me that the photocopy would be OK for the $5 rebate, AS LONG AS IT WAS IN THE SAME ENVELOPE WITH THE $30 ONE, with original UPC and properly completed forms. Today I got a card from Kingston informing me that my rebate is denied because I did exactly what they instructed me to do. I have copy of order showing both rebates, for that day only. They are screwing me on BOTH rebates, the $5 one for using the photocopy and the $30 one for being in the same envelope with the other one. How are these people recommended by Spoofee in the first place when they are so problematic? We're not talking about a digital camera scam in Brooklyn here. This is a HUGE company. (See wikipedia). Should we not ban them from this community and be done with them?

I have never had a problem with buy.com. Sux for those that do/did, but I think every company probably has these issues if you ask enough people. Law of averages, ya know?

Have you tried calling the rebate people. We bought a computer there last January. It came w/several hundred dollers worth of rebates. When I gathered my stuff to submit them I found my darling husband had immediately put all the boxes out for recycling. My eyesight narrowed, my heart-beat in my ears and I couldn't breath. We're talking about $500 worth of rebates with no UPC codes! Long story short, I called them and explained what happened and they were very nice. Told me how to fix the situation. I think they did end up denying one of the rebates the first time (I received a letter too) but when I called them again they fixed it right away. Good luck, but definetely call and talk with a real person who can do something.

I ordered the same one that came with a plastic case and a barcode. Isent the barcode hoping it works. haven't heard back from buy.com about whether that was okay. if not, we can write to FTC and cc to Buy.com and the rebate company and watch the fun.
