I know this is off subject but I am curious about something bothering me. I am shy, but everytime a guy says I am beautiful or pretty they say it to my 21 yr old son instead of saying it to me directly. I am curious as to why they do that. Thanks for any help.

It's the mutual shy thing. They might want to hit on you but might reject them (which has probably painfully happened in their past) OR they might not want to hit on you and are appreciative of beauty. I don't recall even telling a flower of a sunset how beautiful I though THEY were but I will tell others. If I especially like the flower I might acquire it or I might photograph the sunset to keep. I don't think the flower cares (or should care) one way or the other. You're ahead of a lot of people with your son being able to tell you who your admirers are. If you find one of them interesting, get to know them better and if they are romantic I'm sure you will receive their adulations personally.

I agree with Jerry also...and from a different standpoint (seeing this as a woman), I would take it to mean that that person has respect for your son and is seeking his approval/reassurance in a way. It's kind of like telling your son "I think your mom is pretty and I want you to know that I'm not just trying to hit on her." Hope this makes sense.

Good point as well.

That's a new one. I think people would be more inclined to say to you that your son is handsome.

How on a minute people...you're all missing the bigger point...JerryP is giving dating advice.

I'm just glad JerryP is back!!:blushing:

No no no no no! You don't understand. I'm a Spoofaholic and have fallen off the wagon. Help!

(Thanks for welcomes btw - of course that doesn't help either!)

Women used to act embarrassed when men said a woman was pretty to their face...(I was a batender 18 years) It kinda irked men when women acted like that...I was constantly "teaching" women to accept a compliment (just smile and say thank you) and I noticed the AGE of the man who would convey this verbally to a woman....ppl are so much fun to watch...I just wanna be a part of the conversation...was feeling a little left out...

DONT MAKE ME GO TO FACEBOOK

I'm not sure but I think its some kind of time warp vortex place...everytime I go there I don't know what happens but HOURS (a couple of times days) have gone by and I have this nagging feeling that I have been poked alot and everyone is pretty and witty and OMG I need to go!!
