Cendyne DVD-R/RW Drive deal gone...

Ok, NooB question again, but how did you get the 20 off of 50 from office depot to work at office max? Do I have to print off a physical coupon? Or just give them a code at checkout?

Is there anyway they could be suckered into taking their own online coupon of 40 off of 200?:D

meritline.com has some, I think they are about $10 each for +r & $3 for -r (if you order a lot)

The OfficeMax, here in Ann Arbor, MI, didn't honor the $20 off OfficeDepot coupon:mad:
This is the second time they didn't accept OfficeDepot coupon.
Have they changed their policy for competitor's coupon?

You should print out the policy online and bring it to the store.
It work for me:D

Did the code work or did they do a manual override ? Because that coupon is fake. An old expired coupon was supposedly photoshopped to create this coupon.

Officemax's official corporate policy changed and they do NOT take competitor's coupons anymore. They do not mention anything about accepting competitor's coupons in their pricematch section or 115% guarantee section online either.

This doesn't mean you don't have clerks or even managers who are either ignorant of this change, just don't care, or if a manager, even willing to override it and honor a competitor's coupon. It does mean it's now one big YMMV and no one should expect or bank on the ability to use an OD, staples, etc coupon at OM anymore since OM changed their official policy. It's also a big YMMV with phone in orders as well, though much less likely to work on average since they are more informed of official corp policy than every single OM employee scattered across the US.

whats funny is that the OM i bought the dvd at had a laminated card with upc codes for taking coupons from the other office stores :)

i bought the fuji media that was on sale too

yesterday i burned a verbatim that a friend gave me - burned at 2x fine

today i burned the fuji from office max and it didnt work - got to 100% and then died

:(

I just got my burner today. Called my two OfficeMax's and there was 1 burner left that was "open" according to the guy I spoke to. I told them to hold it and I would come on down and look at it. It was a gold model and the plastic wrap had been ripped, but the contents looked intact. They took off the 50$ instant rebate and I actually got them to take the expired (as of 12/31/02) 50$ off of 250$ officemax.com coupon (with no trouble from anyone, I was almost disapointed as I was geared up for a shouting match with whatever manager was in today) so my price was 169$ out of store and I made sure to get the 50$ rebate.

Here is my one and only problem. I got the burner home and took it out of the plastic wrap to find that some one had cut the UPC off of the bottom. I still have the serial number that is on the back of the box, but I am assuming there was a upc code on the bottom. I am especially troubled after reading the mail in rebate details which specifically ask for both the UPC and serial numbers to be clipped and sent in. Did OfficeMax just screw me out of my rebate? Any advice?

how did they enter it into the register w/o serial?

if i was you i would SO head back to that store and demand the rebate be paid to you immediately

obviously some idiot took it back after someone took off the upc

in 12 yrs of doing rebates, never i have i heard that one before! :)

Can anyone post a link to the $50 off $200 coupon, email or code ?

The coupon wasn't exactly printable per say....I just clicked on the link for a working 50 off of 250 and printed out the page that described the deal.

Anyway it is expired now and says so if you click on the link for it. The next best thing is a 40 off of 200 here:

http://www.officemax.com/max/soluti...BV_EngineID=ccciadchdmijlhicfngcfkmdffjdffo.0

I just told the guy that I tried to call in the order and they were out of stock, but said I could use the online coupon locally because of the shortage of writers from the online store. No arguments, not even a funny look.

The UPC was cut off, but not the serial number..

BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

The dimwit who cut off the UPC and brought it back to the store for a refund ( which you are NOT supposed to be able to do ) isn't gonna get the rebate anyway. You need BOTH the original upc and the serial number to get the rebate, not either or when it comes to cendyne, verbatim, etc optical drives.

Course, we all know that one COULD just call parago and insist that one did include the serial number, and get it validated, but then, if someone isn't experienced enough with these rebates to know they need both upc/serial then somehow I doubt they'd know to call parago when it gets rejected. :D

Well I brought the box into work today and someone pointed out that the back side label does have two bar codes...one labled "serial number" (in the lower left of the back label) the other is "part # cdicd00209" (in the lower right corner.) They suggested that the "part #" was the upc. So was I just over reacting? Was there never a bottom to the dvd writer's box? Anybody bought one of these that can tell me for sure?

Nope, that's not the UPC -- it's the part number just like it says. There should be three barcodes: the 2 you have and the UPC. How did they ring it up at the register w/o the UPC??

Regardless, take it back and see if you can get the store to fess up the rebate value.
