Compusa is showing the Sony 4x Universal DVD Writer at $169.97 in store with this printed ad. Print it out right away. Buy it elsewhere and Pricematch it? $30 rebate too.

Maxtor 200GB 7200RPM 8MB Cache HD $129.99 after rebate (298845)

This is INCREDIBLY HOT. Maybe I'll actually finally get this drive! This is the drive I've always wanted. It goes for $300+ anywhere else! WOW, this must be an error, but CompUSA has to accept it.

Just so that it doesn't go anywhere, I put this up on my hosting.

Also, if anyone can report back on a successful pricematch I'd much appreciate it. CompUSA is an hour away for me. I don't need a new burner but at that price I can't pass it up.
 
they just changed the pricing for it on the link. it now says its 299.99, thank god i printed it before that.

I called bestbuy to price match, but they only do it in store and I'm at work.
Damn.

I printed out the ad before they changed it. So if I take this to best buy will they still match it??
 
i don't know, i'm waiting for someone else to tell us how it went. i would take it to compusa, it's their error they should let us buy it at that price. you can always pull that "let me speak to your manager" deal if they don't.

sorry guys, i didn't save it i only printed it. no scanner either so o well. erik says he has it so wait until he gets back or whatever
 
I just went and got back from CompUSA about the burner. Unfortunately, I was told an email was sent out saying that since the site was tampered with, they are NOT honoring the ad, thus the price. I didn't try to PM at the CC & BB around there, since they can easily call up and check. I'll visit either or both before the week's end.
 
Bull, I'm sure it was their error and they just won't fess up.
 
Yep, I just got back from compusa too. They say that the site was hacked and will not honor the deal. Actually, someone had called in the morning trying to order 10 of the drives.

I went to circuit city trying to pricematch, and they did not accept it. They called compusa and were told that the current price was $299 and that the price on the link was $299 also.

Basically, I wasted my time for nothing. :(
