Well, I'm deciding to get contact lenses soon only because with the activities I do, it's hard wearing glasses (and keeping them in one peice). I was wondering on how much a years worth costs. Where would be the best/cheapest place to find them, which are the best brand, and so on... I'm looking mostly for the cheaper ones, which i think are the 1-2 week lenses (Unless maybe the solution cost adds up after a while?). So, if anyone knows some good places i could buy them from/tips/etc... it would really help, thanks

Yeah, I'm curious too. I wear glasses full time and have never explored contacts. I don't play sports or anything, but constantly wiping, bending, and sometimes breaking them makes me angry. I've gotten so used to it I don't even think about it anymore.

I would need to get a contact prescription though...

i used to get mine from costco i think it was 70 bucks or so for the exam and everything then i used the acuvue line which are great they go from about 16-22 a box and a box is about a month and a halfs worth. but now i go back to my old opt. and switched over to daily contacts no more cleaning, rinsing and no buying solution. lensmart.com is also cheap.

I also go for Costco, but I have seen commercials for 1-800-CONTACTS, does anyone have any experience with them? They claim to be much cheaper....

Oh and don't be discouraged by the claimed longevity of the contact lenses, I, along with my sister, and against most people's advice, use our 2-week lenses for 3-6 weeks, easily. As long as you take good care of them, you should have NO problems. As I have been wearing contacts for over 2 years now, and I LOVE THEM! Also, I ONLY recommend soft, hard gets your eyes itchy and are very uncomfortable, plus they fall out easy. Good luck! :D

i used to always wear mine longer than 2 weeks but i kept catching gpc in the right eye so i had to change it out every week in that eye after that. it still wasnt doing the job so i switched over to the dailys and wow those things are amazing. and when i travel i just toss a few pairs into my backpack. never going to clean lenses again. wow i just checked its costing me about a dollar more a day for the dailys. around 1.30 a day verses around a quarter a day for the acuvues. but then the eyedrops for gpc was about 80 dollars so it evens out i guess. and i just looked at 1800contacts. prices are slightly higher than costco. if they dont charge tax and then you factor in shipping and then factor in costcos memebership i think its about the same and with costco you can just run in for an emergency box if needed.

Thanks for all the info dude! Which daily contacts do YOU personally recommend?

thanks everyone for the info! I'll do some more research on where to buy em, and hopefully can get them before december
