They also have a mastercard version of the card , if you have any chase card just call the number on the back of he cars and say you want to transfer to this Chase card. They will do an accoutn transfer for you.

SO basically even if your not pre approved you can transfer any chase card to it

what about AMX blue? 5% on same things plus 1.5% on other purchases... if you spend 6500 K annually .. i usually put everythign on my AMX spend $1500 a month and just pay it off at the end of the month.. but for the places that do not except AMX this would be great for back up

This is the same as Citibank Dividen rewards card as well.

The great thing about this card is that they have one for students, so if you're in college you're almost 100% sure to be accepted. Only difference between student and regular version is that the regular's 12.74% APR while student's 19.99% APR. Not a problem is you pay in full each month. Also you can only get the reguler Dividen as a mastercard only and Visa or Master for students.

5% back = 5 points for every dollar spent

It says that for gas, grocery, and drug store purchases, you get 5 points for every dollar spent. Does each point earned equal one cent?

Is there a link where we can see all the rewards that we can potentially claim? And is there a minimum amount we have to spend to get 5% back?

Yes, you can assume 1 point is 1 cent. Also this sheet shows which stores we can claim points at.

But don't you only get 1% on gas, supermarket, drugstore and 0.5 % for other purchases for the first $6500 spent per year?

Capped at $500/year

I have a Chase Dividends that offers 5% on gas, supermarkets, etc.

I used it for everything for about 9 months.

I called up to get my "refund", to which I was told "you can only get $500/year max refund. The rest is carried over into the next year."

Must be in the small, tiny print somewhere.

And then the calls constantly from Chases "member services" about all their wonderful offers. To which kept declining and asked to be put on the Chase do not call list.

I reduce my limit from 20k down to $500 (to keep my good credit with them), and switched to a Capital One No Hassle card.

It too offers discounts.

The deal for me was buying things in foreign currency with a card. Chase charges 3% on top of whatever conversion rate charge all banks charge. This money goes directly in their pockets. Cap One doesn't charge this fee.

In my opinion, Chase = :thumbs_do

I have both the Citibank Dividend Rewards and the Chase Rewards cards. I can't say I've went to any drugstore, gas station, or supermarket where I didn't get the 5% credit (although they do say it is at their discretion). I'm not sure why anyone would order a gift certificate instead of cash with their rebates unless maybe they were giving it to someone.

I'm pretty sure last time I checked both cards limit the cash back to $300 a year (that's $6000 of spending at drugstores, gas stations, and supermarkets). So I use those cards almost exclusively where I get 5% back and keep another card for everything else.

So take the cash back. $50 check for every 5000 points.
Remember you may have to report this as income for tax purposes.
I don't know how Chase defines "grocery", but my Citibank Dividend considers Wal-Mart Supercenter and Super Target as grocery stores.
Note that there's always maximum points/$$$ you can get with this type of cards.
I'll signup for this Chase card if my Citibank has reached its maximum allowable reward ($350, I believe).

I have the citibank dividend card. Do you really get 5% at super target and super walmart? I've been using my amex there since the agreement says they don't count, but if they count towards the 5%, I'll change my ways immediately!

I think this would work the same as a rebate so I don't think there would be any tax.

Yeap. At least at the super stores that I go to... You can try and check your statement first. Please don't ask! Or they may know the 'loophole' ;)

I thought Visa/Mastercard charges 3%. So you meant Chase charges 3% on top of it? What exchange rate does Cap One use? They could be using higher rate to compensate. I heard certain HSBC card waived this Visa/Mastercard fee, but I can't confirm. Please share more info you have, I'm interested too if I could save 3% overseas charges...

I had this card before, the rate is JACKED up though...

Theres better deals and the 5% is limited time usually. 1% is long term

So is there a card that offers no annual fee, 5% cash back, 1 or more than 1% on other purchases, and no cap as to how much cash back you get per year?

Basically, what's the best card?

I'd say you apply for both Chase Rewards and Citibank Dividend. Use one until you hit the cap, then use the other... That should be enough for average people... Then come to Spoofee.com often to get more stuff, perhaps the ones that you can sell and make profit ;)
