When you grind fresh roasted coffee beans and brew it using a method that keeps the water at the proper temperature, you will rarely want anything else. I recommend that you find a local bean roaster or order from an online company that roasts to order. Can you tell I'm a bit of a coffee snob
I have had this "burr grinder" (gives you a more consistant grind than a blade grinder) for several years now and I recommend it. It has a quantity selector and a dial that controls the size of the grind, both work pretty well. If I select 4 for quantity (which adjusts how long the motor runs) and press the start button it will produce enough grinds to match 4 cups of water in your coffeemaker tank (keep in mind that a coffeemaker "cup" is not really the same as a measuring "cup"). I adjust the size of the grinds according to how strong I want the brew to be. If you have an old "blade" grinder then relegate it to grinding spices and get this one just for coffee.
:ack: CAUTION - This grinder is LOUD...You will wake up everyone in the house when you use it - maybe your neighbors too. Do not grind the beans the night before and use them 8 hours later. You may as well buy it already ground at the grocery store if you are going to do that. For the best flavor use it right after grinding. If that means taking the grinder into the garage then so be it :shhh:
