I have the ZR300 camcorder and it is very nice. The only thing I do not like with the Canon as compared to my old Sony is the nightvision. The Sony worked better in full darkness, had the cool green hue. The Canon has something like nightvision, uses more like a small bright led to illuminate the darkness and allowing people to see you.

and you don't want anyone to see you videotaping them in the dark do you? ;) ;) :camera:

Have you tried taping over the LED with black electrical tape? Does it still record in darkness with any quality?

No, it does not work the same as nightvision. The LED is what illuminates the darkness, all you can see is what the LED illuminates. The video is not very good with the "SuperNight" mode on, it tends to be choppy. :(

From the Canon website:
SuperNight & Night+ Mode

For an added low-light boost, the ZR300 features two additional modes: SuperNight and Night+. In SuperNight mode, the camcorder's white LED assist lamp lights up automatically in low light conditions to provide extra illumination. By switching to Night+ mode, you decide when more light is needed by manually turning the assist light on and off.

Yeah, I agree, the Sony nightvision is great but I much prefer the Canon.

I think Paris Hilton prefers Sony. ;P

Thank you so much for great info. I just placed an order!

Yep me too. The Canon comes recommended from close family/friends so I am picking one up and the price is at least $50 less than anything other deal I can find online for the same camera.

As a side note, CVS is selling disposable digital video cameras, $30 & $14 for processing onto a dvd.

mmmmmmmmm.....Paris Hilton......

hey isn't volume 3 due sometime soon? ;)
