Dell Business has the Dell Dimension 4600 Pentium 4 2.8GHz Hyper Threading Desktop for $659 after $100 rebate. It has 256MB Dual Channel DDR SDRAM, 30GB HD, 48x CD-ROM, ATI 9800 128MB DDR Video Card, integrated network and sound, Microsoft Office Small Business.

1. Go to http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?CS=04&kc=6W300&oc=dim46rm

2. Select options:

--256MB Dual Channel DDR SDRAM at 400MHz [subtract $140]
--No Monitor [subtract $100]
--New 128MB DDR ATI RADEON? 9800 Graphics Card with TV-Out and DVI [add $110 or $3/month1]

3. Check out.

4. Send in the $100 rebate at http://www.dell.com/downloads/us/bsd/bsd_rebate_form.pdf

This is a nice deal just for the fact that the video card and the processor itself go for almost as much as this system is. Meaning, instead of buying the video card and the processor, you can have the whole system and use just the video card and the processor in another system, but use the components that the Dell has in it.

There are many different ways to take advantage of this deal. For example, you can get a Dell Dimension 8300 Pentium 4 2.66 HT for $659 after rebates. http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?CS=04&kc=6W300&oc=dim83min

Enjoy.

Is the Dell 4600 easy to upgrade? Like adding a decent soundcard and some better CD-ROM technology?

Is it better to take the rebate or the memory upgrade?

What's the difference between the ATI RADEON™ 9800 and the ATI RADEON™ 9800 Pro?

Thanks! :)

The Dimension 4600 is the step below their more high-end 8300, so I believe that it will be as upgradable as a normal tower. My friend has a Dell 4550 and it seems to be upgradable perfectly. I'm not a Dell person though.

Anyway, the differences between the 9800 PRO and the 9800 can be found here.

The only difference is that the PRO has a slightly higher clock speed, which shouldn't matter that much. I hope this helps you out!

The price was raised to $759. I have no idea why.
