Meh, this is not really a good deal per se. Sure, on this particular monitor, but anyone who is really comparison shopping for good deals on 24" monitors is going to buy something in the low $200s, rather than something twice as expensive. Even without comparison shopping much you can find top rated Asus and Samsung 24" monitors on newegg for $200-300

If you've never owned a 240x Dell Monitor than you shouldn't discuss the value of them compared to cheaper monitors. I'm looking at a 2405 right now and it has been one of the best computer purchases I've ever made, and I spent nearly $800 for it. The panel quality of the upper level Dells rivals the same size Mac screens and usually has more features for the same $$. I'm not knocking Samsungs, I won a 52" Samsung LCD, but the Samsung PC monitors don't compare to this Dell.

I agree - size is not the only factor here. I owned a high-end 24" Dell monitor. It was so much brighter and sharper than other 24" models that I've seen, and the quality was a step above. Sadly, the LCD cracked when I was dumb enough to put it screen-side-down while looking at the rear connectors. Doh! NEVER DO THIS WITH AN LCD MONITOR OR TV!
