This looks like a smokin' deal. Have laptop prices really fallen this much lately? We're talking 4 GB RAM, 320 GB h-drive, and 256 MB video card here.

Anyone know if this would be a good gaming machine?

The specs are good if you are gonna use it for gaming but don't expect that much from the vid card. It's good for a laptop but if you have the room just get a desktop.

Dell has the XPS 420 for the same price. http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&oc=DXPNQD2&s=dhs

Q9300, 4GB ram, 500gb HD, Blu-ray ROM Drive 22" LCD. Upgrade the video card to the 8800 gt and you will have yourself a top of the line system. Maybe throw in bluetooth and a media card reader, still under 1500.

Whichever system you get though it will be a better price than anyone else.

After you buy your system and you have it on hand. Call Dell and tell them you want to return your purchase because you found a better deal on ebay on a system with similiar specs. Quote a price around 20% less than what you paid for your system total after taxes and shipping. Dell will refund you around 15% of what you paid.

Now you keep your system and you save even more money.

Thanks. I'm not looking for a desktop though. I like the portability of a laptop. Will have to remember that price refund option.

Even that desktop is too expensive:
8800gt:150
4gb ram:60
1tb (2x500gb):150
24" lcd:250
case:70
psu:60
cables:20
mobo:140

Yeah, the price range for that laptop should be around $1000 or less, not $1500. Any thoughts on this laptop?

A good system too, although the resolution of the screen seems low. I have a 17" laptop and I regret not getting the higher res screen.

I would upgrade to the 7200RPM hard drive. The 5400RPM is too slow.
