Now let me see if this is a good deal as for as DSL is concerned. Right now i pay around $28 for basic telephone service. I use dialup to connect and would like to go for the DSL. I enquired Verizon. The DSL costs $39.99/month but looks like i have to pay another ISP to use the gateway.

Just saw DirectTV DSL being adv-ed for 39.99 which includes 5 email address/use of gateway/5 personal URLs/a static IP Address blah blah. Does this mean i don't need to have a seperate ISP ? Comparing Verizon to DirectTV DSL, if that's the case then, DTV DSL is atleast $15 less. Is this a good deal. By the way i am in Portland, Oregon.

I just looked at it, their website seems to offer it at 49.99 (19.99 for 1st 3 months)

Maybe its just a local offer?

Well, I think from looking at what you pasted about the offer, you're seeing it from the upper right side. But from what I see, there seems to be a difference.

Very strange. Are you already on DirecTV DSL ? I know this offer is only for new customers.
 
Give DirectTVDSL and ask for this offer. Since you are a new customer you should be eligible.
 
check the distance

you should have checked the current offer from verizon because for new customers they have some amazing offers from time to time. like free installation and equipments, free camera, first month free etc..

i have used verizon DSL, it is one of the very best. customer support is just excellent. i know how bad CS is in other companies. doesn't ever had any single problems with them. really the ideal company for buying services.

the speed and reliability of your DSL will depend upon how far are you from their central office. you can ask them on phone about how far you are(can't say about DirectV) etc.
 
You must be lucky, because I have had the WORST experience with tech support, mainly incompetence.

I'm already a DSL customer through Verizon, I'm just looking around for others here and there, hehe :)
 
Is referral banned in this forum ?

Anyway the offer for $39.99 is valid till December. And if you refer a friend you get $100 thru Paypal. If anyone is willing to put my name as referer please let me know. I can refer you and we can split half-half. Would pay for a month's DSL.
