Anyone have a suggestion for a good dollhouse that can withstand wear and tear and has a lot of interesting features? I don't want to shell out too much for it. I'm hunting on ebay. thanks.

I once built my daughter a doll house from a kit. She loved it and it was sturdy beyond belief. It was a two story Victorian type. The expensive part was the furniture.

You mean you didn't design/build her some teeny tiny furniture too? LOL
I imagine it was sturdy...if my husband ever finishes up putting up trim/painting/building bookcases/etc, I'll get him busy on this. I know he would actually enjoy it. Good idea! Thanks.

I got a kit for xmas from my husband, he bought it at Hobby Lobby. It was a piece of junk! If I'd had the tools to cut my own wood using this as a pattern though I could of made a nice dollhouse but the wood that was in it was very thin and did not paint up nice at all (very very cheap wood). I ended up giving it to a neighbor who did a lot of wood working and had a bunch of grandkids. He did use it as a pattern and last I saw of it b4 we moved it was coming a long nicely. Said he had to make some of the pattern himself as some of the pieces were broke and some were not shaped right. Have no idea what DH paid for it but know he paid more then it was worth LOL.

We actually have that dollhouse.....I got it from freecycle....

How old is the girl? This house is for Barbie dolls (size wise)....

I also like the Fisher price....I absolutley love these....

Awwww.... can I come over to somebody's house and play? I am stuck in a house full of boys!!!! ;)

I have been eyeing this Fisher Price one...it looks really cute. Girl will be 3 in February. thanks everyone for all of these great suggestions!

The fisher price loving family is perfect then.......the dolls are pretty durable and all their joints move as well. They've increased the members (# of people) too......I personally think that's the way to go. ;) Especially for a 3 year old, she'll use it for a few years.

There is a vast difference between a building project for the wife and oneself and a building project for "daddy's little girl". I missed a LOT of sleep to build the house but I think that was part of the price for the love that held it all together.
