Drug-resistant, flesh-eating bacteria....

I read about that on SFgate.com. It's disgusting.

"The germ typically causes boils and other skin and soft-tissue infections and, despite its resistance to some drugs, is still treatable by surgical drainage and several classes of antibiotics. What is unusual in this case is the high percentage of infections - up to 40 percent - occurring in the buttocks and genitalia."

AHEM. buttocks and genitalia. That's a huge hint of something people shouldn't do with random partners if they want to avoid mrsa.

While it does seem to be mainly prevalent among gay men at this point, it can be spread fairly easily by non-sexual contact once it enters the general population.

They didn't mention if it could spread by surface contact......:hmm:

First link mentions it:

.....also through casual skin-to-skin contact and touching contaminated surfaces.
Another reason not to sit on a toilet seat.......:sus:

So, logically, should those found infected be quarantined?

Sounds like what they wanted to do when HIV first came out.

When HIV first appeared, transmission by casual contact was suspected but not confirmed.
With this stuff, it appears that transmission by casual contact IS confirmed. That is a major difference.
