I do and have been dissapointed. When it works its fine..
It has been in the repair place 2 times for the belt snapping...They fix it..Works for a week or 2 then same thing...It is sitting in my storage unit never to be used again...Am going to ebay it for a penny...

Re: consumer reports

I used to subscribe to consumer reports back in 2005 and they gave it (dyson in general, not this particular model) a low rating because of price and problems/consumer complaints. I'm not sure if there have been any changes to the product but I have only one friend who has been happy with it and that review was given within the first week of purchase so I'm not sure what the longer-term review would have been.

Personally, I would check consumer reports and find a better vacuum for less.

Also, I would like to make note of the fact that I am not the one in our family doing most of the vacuuming, so my opinion should not carry too much weight for someone on the fence :)

I have one and i am very happy with it never had any problems with it and I think its a decent vacuum

I am a current Consumer Reports subscriber, and they consistently give Dyson products middling to low scores. Even if you own one and think it works "fine", was it really worth $300-550? Do you really need your vacuum to "look cool"?

I love finding deals on and buying high end products myself, buy Dyson is pure marketing. Just gimmicky design, nothing more.

The following Eureka vacuum received a Best Buy rating from CR and is half the price. It scored much higher than the DC-14 overall.

Well said.

My wife has wanted a Dyson for a while but has since decided she wants a Bissell Healthy Home

I have 2 of them (one DC07 & one DC14) both the Animal model. Reason I have 2 is one for basement where my dog's room is located and they run and shed TONS in the basement. On the main 2 floors of house, other one works perfect but it just keeps my wife from having to carry it up all the stairs and now that she is 39 weeks pregnant, I am just happy that she still wants to vacuum :druel:

I had 1 problem with my DC07 and called (after it was out of warranty) and they just sent me the part for free which was really more than I expected.
