(Expired) 6.5ft Gold Plated HDMI Cable for $3.99 Shipped

Does anyone know the difference between these & the more expensive HDMI cables (I bought a cable at target for $50 (but returned it when I couldn't see a "huge" difference between that & my monster cable)). Thanks :)

Absolutely nothing! I've tried the more expensive cables and actually bought some of the $2 ones from amazon and monoprice and get the same quality. Wait I might be wrong......sometimes they do put a fancy name on the side of the cable.:teeth:

$50? Owch. That's like Worst Buy selling "high end" USB cables for $45. LOL.

I don't post here usually but I feel I can offer some knowledge here.

HDMI is a pretty strict standard, and as such, you can't call a cable an HDMI cable if it cannot provide 1080p video. Therefore, if you find a cable for $2 that says "HDMI", it will probably work just fine. I myself use cheap cables and everything works beautifully. :)

Furthermore, digital signals won't work the same way that analogue signals do. The video being sent to your TV is just a stream of zeroes and ones. In the analog cable world, high quality cable make a difference because they transfer signals perfectly. In the digital world, you either send the signal correctly, or you don't. Don't be fool by companies like Monster Cable that claim a warmer or higher quality picture when you use their cables. Such effects are literally impossible in a cable!

The moral of the story: Buy a $2 cable and continue to lead your happy lives. :) Companies like Monster are committing consumer fraud.

P.S.: The same rules apply to USB cables and any other cables that transfer digital signals!

Just noticed that these cables are listed to comply with HDMI 1.2. Better make sure you don't have the newer HDMI 1.3 on your devices. For HDMI 1.2 these should work just fine.

Where did you see that? What happens if you use the 1.2 on a 1.3 devise?:hmmmm2:

It makes no difference which revision the cable is, only the device it's connected to.

The only difference you'll find in HDMI cables is the gauge of the wire used. Thicker wires would more reliably send signals over long distance, i.e 25-50ft.
For the typical user the 22-24 awg stuff is fine, it is pretty fine though and won't survive being bent around as much.

That being said, the companies raping ppl on cables are most often not using large gauge wires either. For that you go from a rediculous $50-100 cable, to an absolutely insane $300-800 cable. :convinced:

Good price, but not really a deal. Do yourself a favor and visit monoprice.com.
