wow..best computer deal I seen here in a long time. If I were in the
market for one I'd get it. But too bad Dell puts such ugly boxes
around their computers.

It now only lets you select 512MB of RAM.

I bought a 4550 2.4ghz in 2002 for $679 with 15" lcd monitor. I thought speed would double about every 6 months. You could buy a 4550 in 2001 too. Only a .6ghz raise in 3 years?

For those of us who are totally geeked: :D
Actually, Moore's law observed data density, not processor speed, has doubled approximately every 18 months(Webopedia) also (Intel). One could argue (and I hope someone will!) that rated speeds are not always good indicators of performance. Witness the current P4-M/Centrino processors as well as the entire line of AMD number-jugglers.
The actual timeline of processors and a discussion of Intel vs. AMD is here.
The more interesting statistic is how quickly a 3.0 (800Mhz bus) processor, got down to this price! Spoofee rules!

Cdrw

I COULD NOT FIND THE CDRW THAT WAS SUPPOSE TO BE INCLUDED IN THE DEAL, IT SEEMED TO BE AN UPGRADE, AM I MISSING SOMETHING. ANY HELP APPRECIATED.....

I JUST WONDER .. if i am first time dell user i have to register a bussiness account ? or i can just register a account will be fine. one more question about the tax part if i register as bussiness account do i have to pay for the bussiness tax end of the year? I got little confuse on this part can some one answer those question for me plz

The deal only includes a 48X Cdrom drive, not sure why Spoofee posted it as being with a CD-RW. Sorry :(

yeah cause you need a Cdrom drive to make the computer work.
