This was AWESOME last year... it was a good sized piece of cake and they didn't make you jump through hoops to get it... you just walked up and they handed it to you with a smile. No pressure for a donation, which was also nice, although I did feel obligated to make a small one.

The one near me gets pretty crowded when they're not giving away free cake, so thanks for advising me when to avoid that shopping center. ;)

cool....i enjoyed the baskin robbins one last time around.....hopefully I can hit a time range where I won't be standing out in a cold line waiting for it like last time..... and there's a store close enough to my house for me to walk to. :D

i must have gone to the wrong cold stone last time they had "free" ice cream. i hadnt even stepped in the store and they shoved this donation bucket in my face at the door waiting there. i know its for a good cause but still..

Thanks for the info! I can't wait for all the free ice cream. Tomorrow, Ben & Jerry's Free Cone Day, and now this. And the weather is great for ice cream. :D

wow and I just used my buy one get one free blizzard coupon yesterday and now this :) Don't forget to put this as a deal for tommorow :p

hm....how big are the slices they give anyways? I want to find out if this will be worth the crowd..

I was so psyched for this! I picked up my husband at the train station. We walked over with our daughter in the stroller. I had $5 ready for a donation (I thought one good thing deserved another). and it was

TOTALLY NOT WORTH IT
IN GLEN ELLYN, ILLINOIS!

We were accosted at the door for a donation. We were told that the cake was given in response for the donation... not free as it was advertised. After plunking my $5 in we received three tiny, one inch slices of cake that had melted ice cream on it.

After all the hype, we were soooooooooooooooo disappointed!

Ah don't sweat it. It was only $5 and you got to spend sometime together as a family. It also went to a good charity :bigok:

haha. i missed it. oh well. theres always next year. :)

Terrible in Wayne, PA. First tried the new Ardmore, PA Suburban Square store which said that they weren't participating because they just opened up a week or two ago. They said that Wayne was participating, so my girlfriend and I made the 15-20 minute trek over and it was terrible. We were not pushed for a donation however not many people were there, we asked for the cake and they brought out a brick ice piece of cake that was very small, very disappointing after the free cone day at Ben and Jerry's.

Anyway, my girlfriend benefited from Make-A-Wish some time ago so I felt like making a donation, but after seeing the cake we got, I decided against it. I'd rather donate directly to the charity than through Cold Stone. I think their ice cream is awful and after seeing what we got today, it just makes my opinion of them worse.

Overall, pretty disappointing.

Yup... it was good cake. Gave a couple of bucks for the Make a Wish foundation also. :)

They did require donations here in Chandler, Arizona.
