Cool, I could really use 1,000,000 free light bulbs! :teeth:

I will probably use $3 in gas driving to get a $2 bulb, so there goes the environmental savings!

Yeah but these bulbs last an average of 7 yrs. vs the few months that a regular bulb lasts.

Thanks for the post. These bulbs look strange but they are great. The light is soft and they last forever! Plus......they are good for the environment.:bigok:

Cool! This is on my way to work so I will stop by and pick one up! Thanks! :bigok:

Thanks for the heads up on this one!

Cool deal, I've got a couple of them already and they work great.
Not so happy with the 'daylight' type they seem to give me headaches, but the others work great!

Great Catch!

I too have replaced two lightbulbs with the n:vision type. Major difference we noticed was the delay when you flip the switch! :lightbulb

I switched to compact flourescents all over my house years ago. Yes, does take a few seconds to "warm up", but last a lot longer than regular bulbs. The one's in our family room overhead fan fixtures have lasted 6 to 8 years.

Also they don't give off as much heat as regular bulbs, so less need to run air conditioning in summer.

What does $2 in gas matter if the environment is helped out? I'm all in!

I switched my house to nearly all CF bulbs over the last few years. They last long (I'm such a cheap Spoofeer that I Sharpie the dates onto the base of the bulb so I know how long it lasted), use less energy, great. But now recently I've heard that the mercury and/or other things used in them is worse for the landfills than incandescents. Probably the wrong site to be asking this on, but just curious if anyone else has heard this?

Unfortunately, yes, they do contain mercury vapor, which can be environmentally harmful. Most areas have programs for disposal of toxic items such as old batteries, old flourescent bulbs, etc. Don't throw such items away in the trash, as they can end up in landfills and ultimately leech into water tables.

What we do is put all of our used batteries into a bag for temporary storage until they can be taken to a disposal facility. The same can be done with burned out flourescent bulbs. I'm pretty sure that most/all Home Depot, Lowes, etc, have a battery disposal bin somewhere in the store, and you can take them there. They may have the same for disposal of flourescent bulbs. It's more work, but it's worth it, especially if word spreads on proper disposal of these kinds of things.
