Have you used any other GPS units besides this one. I have been seriously considering getting one, but I'm hesitating cause it is so inexpensive compared to other units.

likewise kage__, if someone could give some input. This is by far the cheapest I've seen, it's even cheaper than the ones on Black Friday! Good deal...

BF prices were $149.99, so no...it's not cheaper. But with that being said, just price match to Fry's at Staples or Circuit City, then use one of their coupons. You'll at least get a somewhere in between price.

I picked it up on Black Friday, and it's worth the money, no question. It's a loss leader for Mio, trying to break into the US market. GPSPassion and GPSLodge have more information on it. Very hackable, based on WinCE4.2.

I am still waiting for the price to drop to $150 or so.
I can wait, I can wait, I can wait, I can wait...

I tried to get CC to PM there price to Fry's, but the operator said they wouldn't since Fry's isn't a nation wide chain and there's not a Fry's close to where I am at right now.

I doubt you will see the price drop down to $150.00 again. Mio was taking a loss on the unit just to get it out in the market. I'm wondering how long Fry's will have the Mio @ 198.00.

Is this GPS really comp. to a $500 unit (CC says the regular price is $499)?

Luckily I have a Fry's right up the street so I'll have to check this out...and soon.

I agree to an extent, but the prices on GPS systems are always coming down, just like any other technology. Look at DVD players - you can get one for $30-$40, even from some of the mainstream electronics brands.

So while the c310x may not ever be available for $150 again, I would fully expect future GPS products that perform just as well or better to be available at that price before long.

The "low end" GPS navigation system prices will likely eventually settle into the $150 and less price range within 6-12 months, with the mid-range systems around $200.

Of course, this is all just speculation on my part, but it's based the general trend with all electronics. GPS systems have only recently started to price into the "general consumer" price range, meaning it's no longer a luxury electronics item. Once that happens, prices will only continue to decrease while the technology/hardware/software improves.

I ended up getting the last unit at Fry's about three weeks ago. So far I really like it. It has a few quirks in the routing, but I found an easy way to get around it by using the Route Via function. :)

I got this on BF, and its very good for the price.
The bad part of this GPS compare to more expensive ones is the routing argorithm. This GPS tends to just make a straight line to the destination instead of trying to find fastest route. But you will get where you want anyway. (Unless the road changed since the map was produced)

One of the biggest things I found around the Houston, Tx area is that the Mio refuses to route via the tollway unless I uncheck the highways selection or I generate my route and do the Route Via. This is kinda a pain and I hope it'll be fixed in a later release.

Just got an email for Fry's cancelling my order - they said it was a pricing error :(
