Valid today only?

My bad; it is good til 9/13

Anyway, there happens to be a new Italian restaurant downtown that just showed up on there. We are literally going to an event a few hundred yards away from that place so that's dinner.

half of these restaurants don't even accept the coupons... the way they have it worked out with restaurant.com is the coupons are accepted at the restaurant owner's discretion. i've tried numerous coupons and had them all rejected because the restaurant owners didn't realize the specific details of the promotion they were signing up for.

This seems to be a problem only for you. Going back to 2006 in my account on the website, I have used about 50 of these and never had a problem. Furthermore, several of my friends and coworkers use these and none have ever had a problem. These are no different than a restaurant putting a coupon in something like an Entertainment book. It costs the establishment nothing but gives people a chance to try their food at a discount so hopefully they will come back if they like it. One time I went to a restaurant which was closed for the season (on the beach) and restaurant.com gave me a credit for another one. I also just used another one while on vacation in Savannah and had no problem with that.

You have posted the same thing just about every time this is posted. Take it up with restaurant.com or the establishment. If there were others having this problem, I would take your side, but everyone always replies that they never have issues and I have to agree with them since I never have issues either. It's like you're the sane one and everyone else is crazy.

I haven't had a problem for all the time I've been using Restaurant.com either. One time I purchased some gift certificates for a restaurant that subsequently closed and I e-mailed Restaurant.com and received a reply and replacement certificates good for any other restaurant in around 4 hours.

Plus I believe the gift certificates even state to call the restaurant first (although I've never done that).

These gift certificates are incredibly lame. They all have minimum values and the higher the certofocate amount the more ya have to spend to use them. Not a deal at all. If ya want MUCH better deal, get an Entertainment Book for your community and use those coupons. Vast majority are simple B1G1F coupons with reasonable maximums.

Umm, the $25 most often have $35 minimum. So let's say we go out with 2 couples to eat and the entrees and drinks together are $15 each person. That's 60 dollars total. The restaurant.com discount usually knocks a net of $23 off (most often we buy them when they are $2). The bogo free from Entertainment would only knock of one entree and 90% of the times you are forced to buy 2 drinks. So let's say the entrees are $13 to compare to $15 including a drink (most places charge about $2 for a drink now). Once you are forced to buy two drinks, your total savings is $9 and this does not include money spent on buying the book. Anyway I bought an Entertainment book 2 years ago. 1/2 of the restaurants were nowwhere near me, 25% of the coupons were valid only at one loaction, and the other 25% of coupons were for establishments over 90 miles away. Our local Charlotte Citipass books are a much better investment and include about 98% local merchants, including about $60 in coupons for a grocery store.

How is B1G1 (which you usually can't use on weekends) better than $25 off a $45 purchase any day, including weekends?:thinking:

FYI the restaurant I use these for doesn't even charge the "mandatory" 18% tip and lets me tip what I want (which is at least 20-25% when I use these). For example I had dinner for 4 at my favorite Mexican place on Saturday night that came to around $48 after tax and I ended up paying like $32 after tip including the cost of the gift certificate. You sometimes can't eat at Burger King for $8/person.

Just my two cents. :rapture:

Yep, the tip, even if required on the certificates, is rarely charged. The last one we used in Savannah was supposed to add the tip on, but they did not. Anyway, that place was awesome and the service was good so we gave the waiter 20% on the total bill.

I can vouch for these. Good deal. Call the place before you go to see if they accept, I've never had one that didn't.

I routinely order $35 worth of BBQ from my fav place for $10. It's also gave the wife and I a lot of cheap date nights trying new places.

Furthermore, if the place goes out of business or opts out of the program, restuarant.com will send you an email with a code for a new certificate to another restaurant of your choice. They do this on their own, no action required on your part.

This may seem like a dumb question, but I'm new to Restaraunt.com. If you buy a $50 certificate and the minimum food purchase is $100, does that mean you need to spend $100 cash meaning the bill has to be at least $150?

No, the minimum is the total bill before the discount. So if you order $100 worth of food, you'll pay $50. Believe it or not, restaurants will gladly take that deal right now.

I love these, they give me an excuse to try new places. There are quite a few restaurants in my area that never would have gotten my business if it wasn't for these. I have never had one rejected either. I've even used them for lunch on occasion and even though most say dinner, they were accepted anyway. Contrary other's experiences though most of the places I've been to have added the tip. I've never dealt with bad service on any of these trips though, so it didn't matter.

I'm confused about this. I signed up for this and printed the stuff out (god what a horrible system they use, such a hassle), and the T&C listed on the gift certificate has all this extra stuff that I wasn't expecting like it says "valid for parties of two or more unless otherwise stated". OK, well does that mean I can pretty much never use these alone? Later on it says "Valid for dine in ONLY unless otherwise stated". So, this time they are saying only, but why not on the 2 or more before? So confused...

The latter is at the restaurants' discretion; they decide it, not restaurant.com.

When you look at the restaurant listings, they all say what limitations there are for their coupon. You do need to read these limitations before making a decision. There are plenty that I pass over because they just don't fit what I am looking for (usually the ones that require parties of 4).
