Musician's Friend.com has the Rogue RA-100D dreadnought guitar on sale as their stupid deal of the day.

Regular Sale Price : $79.99

1. Guitar Price : $39.99
Final Price : $39.99 + Ship($8.95)

just a note to say that this is a really decent guitar for the price. If you're looking at getting a guitar and don't want to spend the 500 bucks for a decent one, this is the next best alternative. I've had this one and played for several years, and get comments on it all the time for how good it sounds. This isn't a bad price, I paid 80 bucks for mine, but it came with a mandolin. anyhoo happy spoofeeing.

got one of these

When I saw this deal, I was highly skeptical to say the least. A good quality 6 string acoustic normally runs from $500 to $2000. At least an American made one does. How could this Chinese instrument possibly be anything but a toy?

However there are 100's of solid reviews on this model out on the 'net and they are 90% positive. I ordered one. :convinced:

Pretty much everyone says the finish is excellent, the fretting is very good and the sound is great. :note:

The complaints are the action is high, especially the high E string, and the stock Martin strings aren't very good. Some folks are saying the intonation drifts from the 8th fret upwards. Well, strings are easily replaced and the action can be tweaked with a little basic Luthier skills.

Looks like the pins, saddle and nut are cheap plastic, but take heart as you can buy some nice bone/ivory replacements on that Musicians Friend site. Look at their line of GraphicTech replacement parts. With a little precision filing of the nut/saddle and/or truss adjustment you should be able to get the action and intonation improved on this baby.

Also, the tuning pegs seem to be decent but need some oiling and working in to really shine. Do it.

I would never do this kind of work on say a $2000 Martin but on a $50 beater? Well, lets just say I can't wait to get my hands on this baby.

If anyone would like to read about how to do this work Here is one informative link

thanks for the repair link. think i'm going to pass this deal to someone who's looking for a beginner (inexpensive) guitar.

missed it! it's only good for their "stupid deal of the day." oh, well, guess they got me! i'm check the site everyday now! haha

I also missed it. Any other comparable deals floating about? I'd love to have a guitar in the house for visitors. Myself, I play the harp and if I were going to start fooling with a second instrument, it would be the cello.

Got it today

I'm impressed. Sure doesn't look or feel cheap. Mine was set up fine right out of the box. (well maybe the bass E is a tad high). Tuning machines work fine. Finish and hardware just fine. No buzzing. This is a nice guitar.

The strings do sound dull though. Soon as I find a nice string pairing this baby will be set to fly. I'm going to try installing a quality saddle, nut and set of pins too. I'm sure the tone will blossom with that modification

If this is an example of the kind of work the Chinese do we are in big trouble in this country here.

For you acoustic guitar players here on Spoofee, Here is a download link to the guitar tabs for Brokeback Mt. My link is a Notepad file containing 'The Wings', 'The Opening' and the thematic music. Someone went to the trouble of nicely tabbing it out.
