I got one of those, they are pretty good. I like them better than the original iPod ones. I sent back an old pair of headphones. If you don't want to send the iPod ones, you can also get cheap ones at the dollar store.

unimpressive bass

These are pretty good if you're into a really LOW bottom end bass sound. Being a bit "tone" conscious, i noticed that these really do a good job at reproducing the absolute bottom of the spectrum but leave out the low mids. I would have thought that for the retail price, they would have done much more to improve the whole bottom end.

Also, these are the kind in which one end is longer than the other.
