I just installed Firefox. Just wanted to know what others think of it. Is it any safer than Internet Explorer? Easier to use?

I've been using Firefox for at least 8 years. I never think of using Internet Explorer (now that I have thought of it, IE won't even work with my operating system). I had actually thought everyone had already switched long ago. Then again I thought people stopped taking speed back in the 70s because it was so lame. Silly (and lame) me.

As with using Microsoft, Mac OS X or Linux, browser choices are Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera (the top 3) plus many many others http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_web_browsers and it all depends on what you like, what you are used to and IMHO how important Internet security is to you.

Have lots of fun!

Supposedly it's more secure, but I figure it's only a matter of time before computer villains figure out how to hack it.

I think it's easy to use. It has tabbed browsing, a place to search google, ebay, and amazon in the tool bar without having to go to the sites, and you can put buttons to link to your favorite sites up on the tool bar too. But I think IE has a lot of those features too now--it's like they're trying to make it like firefox--so I'd say that means firefox is a good browser.

I  <a href="http://www.spreadfirefox.com/node&id=0&t=210"><img border="0" alt="Firefox 2" title="Firefox 2" src="http://sfx-images.mozilla.org/affiliates/Buttons/firefox2/firefox-spread-btn-1b.png"/></a> & all the add-ons, extensions & etc. :bigok:

I like it, I use it, but it has its drawbacks. For instance, one day you will open your browser and you will have no bookmarks. They will have all been removed from your toolbar. Fun, right? I mean, you can get them back, but thats a pain in the neck to have to do again and again. The same thing happens to the email accounts in Thunderbird, which I also use. Mozilla is great, but they could improve things a lot.

The ^t command is reason enough to use Firefox.

I use Firefox most of the time. I like it better because it's easier to browse but for some things I have to use IE. For some reason when I try to upload pics to Shutterfly using FF it freezes every time.

I've never had any or all of my bookmarks missing.

You can save them & import the bookmarks easily.

AOL is dropping netscape in Feb.

When I miss all the pop-ups - I use IE. ;)

You just got to love the Ad Block Plus extension.

Neither have I. The only thing that annoys me (and it's minor) is when a new version is released and my add-ons and themes don't keep up.
I've never lost anything in T-bird either. Maybe you have some other browser that's causing a conflict? (random guess)

I prefer firefox to IE, but like Squid said, I hate it when my bookmarks are gone!!

You guys have got to keep your fingers off the [DELETE] button;)

Tried it and like it a little, but now I can't click any links in my email and be taken to those sites w/out using Firefox. It will not recognize IE as my browser for Outlook.

If you run IE, it *should* ask if you want it to be the default application. If it does, tell it yes. Then when you run Firefox, tell it no so that you can use FF when you want to without messing up your file associations.

Hope it helps.. Come back if not and someone else can try to help you.

Also, dont know if thisll work, but you can try to right-click on the link and see if you have an option to decide which browser to use.

Firefox also has an "IE Tab" add-in that will allow you to designate sites to be opened with IE, and also allow you to reload a site in an "IE Tab", which appears to be IE running inside Firefox on one tab.

If you like Netscape you can get Seamonkey from Mozilla (Firefox developers). Seamonkey even uses the Netscape icons last I tried it.

Missing or not, you can store and share (or not) your bookmarks with *************. That way you can access your bookmarks on any computer you use anywhere. Very neat.

Missing or not, you can store and share (or not) your bookmarks with del-icio-us (replace the "-" with dots and precede it with www). Spoofee is blocking me telling you about this :mmph: That way you can access your bookmarks on any computer you use anywhere. Very neat.

I use firefox almost exclusively at home and work. My mother-in-law also uses it and she not all that computer savy. As others have said I love the Addins and themes. Two thumbs up. :)
