not quite as good but decent none the less

The Sony DW-U10a (which is the EXACT same as the Sony DRU-500a, just OEM which means without the software) can be had here for $200 shipped (6 month reseller rating of 8.83). This drive can be flashed to become a DRU-500a. Details on how to flash it can be found here.

The Sony DW-U12a (which is also the EXACT same as the Sony DRU-500a or the DRU-510a (Not sure which one because different sites say different things), just OEM which again means without the software) can be had here for $206 shipped (6 month reseller rating of 6.67). I am guessing (total guess here) that this drive can be flashed too but I don't know how and haven't looked to find out how.. If anyone can give any info on this I'd be VERY thankful.

Optorite (Accesstek) DD0203 Dual Format (+/-) DVD Burner with HD Burn for $199 at www.accupc.com. (I repeat this is a dual format for those that are going to list other DVD burner deals here like a Pioneer A05 or something) Was $280 a couple days ago. This drive is a OEM Sanyo with the following features:

I've heard this drive has problems with firmware and no updates. But then again, that was a few months ago when it was first released....haven't researched it since.

I believe that it's the best multiformat drive out there, so if you want the multiformat capability, definitely shoot for this one.

The best is the Sony 500***

This other one is just a hundred dollar cheaper version & as mentioned above, has firmware issues & doesn't come with the same type of support. Why else would it be $100 cheaper? The Pioneer 106 dual is pretty decent at $215.00
