Just dial 1-800-GOOG-411 (1-800-466-4411) from any phone.

You can just say "Pizza" and it can connect you to a Pizza business near you.

Did you know that your phone company charges $1.49 or more each time you call 411?

I tried this it works great!
thanks for the post i_luv_free_stuff!

Do you have to listen to advertisements before they give you the number? (like 1-800-free-411). If not, then I'm switching to GOOG :)

The cell phone companys charge you even more if you call from your cell phone. To get free cell phone 411 you can call... 800-373-3411!

Hope that helps too!

No ads now, but it's in it's 'experimental' phase. It will also connect you for FREE, (no added charge), you don't have to try to remember or write down a number.

I don't mind the ads so much for the free 411 but my GAWD the voice analyzer is a nightmare!

I called the other day for a city in CA that is difficult to spell. I had to repeat it three times (first they guessed a place in Alaska, then a place in Kansas, then another state) Got a live operator, spelled the city, got the listing, they put me through to the recording. First I had to listen to a sponsor ad, then it said "The number you requested is Thank you for calling" Huh? So I caleld right back and now it tracks your number and gives you the option to hear the last numebr again. I did that (after listening to ads) and got the same exact thing- no NUMBER just skipped right to the thank you! So the next time I had to have them screw up the city name (AGAIN) to get to an operator. I told her what happened- that the number for friggin Pizza Hut wouldn't come out on the recording- she refused to give me the number verbally and put me back into that &*$^ing recording that she KNEW wasn't working!!!:frusty:

I am so, SO glad to see a competitor- hope free 411 goes right out of business!

WOW! krispsmith sounds like you were really put through the mill! Here's hoping things will go better for you from now on

Awesome! I just replaced the Free 411 # in my cell with Google's number. They are great! I hope they keep the ad-free format. :)

I had 2 similar experiences and one time I couldn't hear anyhting.

Just a little FYI:

1) Google Doesn't provide any residential listings with this service (1-800-FREE-411 will)

2) Google will not let you talk to a live operator.
(sometimes Free-411 will let you talk to a live operator if you have too much trouble with the voice recognition).

flippin sweet. I just tried it out, it hit everything first try, within 30 seconds I was connected to the movie theater I wanted.

Awesome :bigok:

1. The Voice Recognition system seems so much better than FREE 411.
2. No advertisments, so far, but that may not be so bad if done Google Style
3. They give you the top results (I got 8) not just 1 take it or leave it.

Great Deal :teeth: Thanks

Isn't it easier just to text Google?

www.google.com/sms/

I know my phone has a feature where you can select the number to call or even save it using the SMS.

It may be a bit easer, but it's not to good when you are running down the road doing 70 and trying to look at your cell phone to type.
