I've gotten my reports. Note that they're only reports, for credit scores you need to pay a small amount.

For those of us on the East Coast, who don't want to wait for months, you may be able to do what I did:

I just became eligible for a credit union account, which included a Visa credit card. When I applied for it, I asked them if they could share the credit report and score they pulled on me. They told me the score, what was good, what was bad, etc... for free! (BTW, I got the Visa card in the end.) Worth looking into if you're applying for some new credit soon.

Maybe close, but not the same

The 'credit score' provided isn't a real FICO score. They use their own scoring scheme.

anybody ever use this site?

http://www.myfico.com/

it's not free, but there are coupons and stuff and it looks like it is fairly comprehensive. I think they give you suggestions for improvement based on your specific needs.

if anyone has used it, please let us (or at least me) know how it was.

I've used myfico.com several times. I heard about it on the Suze Orman show. They are great. All the info they had for me and my hubby was correct, and they have all kinds of tools and info on what will affect your score, and tips on how to improve it! I definetly reccomend this site. :bigok:

Keep in mind...

If you go to the eloan site for your FICO score,

The eloan FICO score may not match the various credit agencies FICO scoring.

Everyone uses different criteria.

You are allowed one report per year from each of the 3 major agencies, though if you want your credit score, you have to pay extra for it.

It is best to do one every quarter from each agency to stay on top of things. If you have used them up, just apply for credit like ksocoa did and they have to give you a report if you want it.

I think it only costs about $3.50 for your credit score. If you have a Washington mutual credit card (formerly Providian) you can get your credit score free and it's usually updated monthly.

It's best to get your free credit report, 1 from each agency every 4 months, so you can stay on top of things. Instead of getting all three at one time.

Once a year you can get a free Credit Report from Experian, Equifax & TransUnion. This can be done by phone, US mail or over the internet.

If you chose the online option, you can print your report immediately. Start by clicking on the drop down menu & picking your state...then follow the prompts.

I do this yearly just to keep on top of things!

This is really good info. Thanks Madonna!

Have done this before and it is great. I "stagger" them....order from Equifax, then from another 3 months later, then another 3 months later. This way I'm actually getting 3 chances a year to see the latest info on my accounts.

Beware of any other site offering annual credit reports. They take all your info for your "free report" then inform you that the report is free, but there is a $9.95 (for example) fee for a processing fee.
