Free Credit Monitoring/Report/Score from TransUnion Lawsuit
I read today that TransUnion, one of the three big credit bureaus, settled a lawsuit and now is giving away free credit monitoring service for 6-9 months, plus the option for a cash payment if that gets approved, depending on which monitoring service option you choose. This includes your credit report and credit score (TransUnion score, not FICO). Pretty much anyone who had any kind of loan in the last 20 years is eligible.
You have to sign up at the settlement website (https://www.listclassaction.com/) by September 24th.
This was on CNN, so it looks legitimate.
This is part of the article from CNN:
"You can sign up today to receive free credit monitoring services from the credit bureau TransUnion due to a settlement the company reached on a class-action lawsuit... You may be eligible for these services if you had an open line of credit from January 1, 1987 until May 28, 2008. That means if you received a car loan, opened a department store credit card or took out a student loan in the past 21 years, you'll qualify."
