Teleflip is offering a free email-to-cell service. You just email [cell phone number]@teleflip.com and teleflip will send the email.

It is worth to note that unless text messaging is included free w/ the cell plan then you might be charged for the incoming message. With my plan I do not have any free text msgs. I have to pay .10 per message. There is also a limit that can be sent in one txt message. So if the email gets broke into several pieces it can can get expensive.

I know of two wireless providers that already do this service.

Sprint PCS: <phonenumber>@sprintpcs.com
Verizon Wireless: <phonenumber>@verizonwireless.com

Nice idea for those uninitiated with the world of SMS, though. :claps: :p

Also, AT&T Wireless is either <[email protected]> or <[email protected]>.

If the person uses AT&T Wireless, unlimited free incoming text messaging is included.

Otherwise, they'll need a text plan or they'll have to pay per message.

Unless Im doing it wrong (I'm not sure if that is possible!) the verizon email thing does'nt work. I use verizon and tried it out just to see if it was true, and I got an error message back to my email account.

Just an FYI!!!

This is a really cool service though because you can now use one domain to text any cell carrier. Before, you had to know their e-mail address etc., so this is definitely one I'll use.

Okay I guess I didn't understand the whole point of that service but now I do...That does sound cool! Oh and I forgot the Verizon thing, maybe it is myvzw.com or something like that but whatever...sorry for the bad link. :)

<phonenumber>@vtext.com usually.
