Most exfoliators on the market that we investigated use quite large (particle size wise) abrasives. Abrasives being the actual component of the exfoliator/facial scrub that scrubs the skin. For example using bits of oatmeal in an oatmeal exfoliator/facial scrub.
Skin cells are very small as you probably already know, so when you scrub it with a large particles, you are digging into the skin.
Homepeel’s Flakey Skin Remover uses the same abrasive that is used in Microdermabrasion. This abrasive is called corundum crystal.
One other thing to note, if you are using products that accelerate the skins natural exfoliation process and DON’T use a product that effectively removes the excessive dead skin cells on a regular basis. Then you may find you can get congested skin.
