Just my luck, my school isn't on the list. :(

no worries

Any employer wacky enough to require these nitwit certs isn't someone you'd want to work for anyhow. You have to pass hundred of exams to get your college degree right?

Any employer who trust's Mickey-soft's ability to evaluate your skills over your university probably won't be in business long anyhow..

I couldn't agree more. Fortunately, this is definitely not a requirement with my employer. In fact, they value experience and education (B.S. in Computer Science) over certifications, which I think is the way it should be.

I was just a bit surprised that my university, one of the biggest in New York City isn't on the list, that was my main gripe.

which school are you in? i go to school in nyc too.

if your school is NOT on the list you can still sign up for the free test. You need to go to let screen with the list of school then on the bottom right it says “not on the list” (or something like that). Click the link and then click on the link for US and it will take you to some website. It is an Item that you add to your cart and buy (it costs nothing) they verify that you are a student by either asking you for your SS and DOB or you can email them some proof of enrollment (current ID card or semester bill). They then send you an email with a code you can enter on the dreamspark site and you get the voucher. The free vouchers are only for a few limited things. Took like 2 hours to verify for me but signed up for end of May.

Now that I have an .edu address, I am thinking I might take advantage of this. I hired an employee with one of these paper credentials and he didn't know a whole lot. People know how to take the test but they don't know how to apply it in the real world.

Happens a lot, that's why certs aren't always a good measure of skill(s).

Amen to that. I'm a fairly intelligent guy, but not a great test taker. If I don't know something when working on a project, I can usually find out in a minute or two.
