FREE Princess Kits for Jr Girl Scouts *Jr. Girl Scout Troop Leaders in Texas
http://www.txbeef.org/special_detail.php3?promotion_id=23
Just about every young girl likes to pretend and perform. Fit for a Princess is about playmaking.
It’s about girls having fun and using their imaginations.
It’s about every girl getting the chance to be a princess…and to perform for others.
Fit for a Princess is a nutrition and physical activity patch program for Junior Girl Scouts. Its goal is to encourage Junior girls to eat smart and be physically active.
The central activity of the Fit for a Princess patch program is readers’ theatre, a short skit with educational messages embedded in it. In readers' theatre, girls don’t memorize their lines, they read them. There are no stage settings required, and few, if any props. In the process of practice and performing, girls develop self-confidence, use their imaginations, and build self-esteem. They learn by doing.
A registered dietitian working with Troop Leaders and Junior Girl Scouts developed the Fit for a Princess program, and it has received approval from the American Association of Family Physicians Foundation. Everything you need to complete the program is available free of charge to Junior Girl Scout Troop Leaders while supplies last.
Junior Girl Scout Troop Leaders in Texas should contact their Girl Scout Council for the program materials. The following Girl Scout Councils currently have the materials available in their offices. If your Texas Girl Scout Council is not listed, please have the program director for your Council contact Erin Worrell at Texas Beef Council 1-800-846-4113 for details. Girl Scout Councils outside of Texas will need to contact their state Beef Council for materials.
