I'm not sure how long it will last, if it's a glitch or what, but Vampire Diaries: Season 1 is currently free on iTunes:

Copy the link, past it into the address bar, and delete the redirection script for best results.

There is also a facebook promotion going on to get the season premiers of four different shows for free (One Tree Hill, Supernatural, Vampire Diaries, The Lake):

You may have to join the page, then the link is their first post on the announcement board.

You have to be signed up with itunes to get it. It's listed as free season, but there is only the one episode.. the premier.
No mention if you will get the other episodes free or not.
Just a heads up.. if you aren't already signed up w/ itunes... you have to give CC info or authorize Paypal billing to sign up.

They have other show's etc. listed that are free too.... maybe I won't have to pester someone with cable to tape them for me now..
