I recommend the extended service plan for this manufacturer. I have an S700 Fujifilm camera that went belly-up in like a year. It was always handled gently, but the LCD display failed for no apparent reason.

I usually don't buy the plans, but in that case I had a $20 discount, and the plan was $20, so I figured sure- just toss it in. Good thing! It's at the repair center now.
