This is interesting. I wonder how Google will make a payment system without directly competing with Paypal.

It would be awesome if it's fee free. It sucks to give paypal a certain percent on every transaction.
 
I'll bet they're going to use it for business transactions first, then infiltrate the ebay community second. The article mentions that PayPal doesn't appeal to businesses the way Visa and Mastercard do, so if they can set up a reputation with businesses first, then getting individuals to use it will come easily. I mean, if I can use it to pay for an Overstock or Amazon purchase, then I'll trust it to be secure for an ebay purchase as well.
 
Oh, this would be wonderful. I paid nearly $400 in the past year to Paypal just to have the privilege of accepting payments from them.

Do you use it for eBay? If so, that's why don't you bump up your shipping and handling charges in your auctions??
 
Nope, not a single eBay item sold. Some of my customers pay me by Paypal for goods and services.

Then I'm sure there's a more than a little cushion in there to offset the PayPal fees. ;)
