Well, seeing as how today is July 16th, the day Harry Potter came out AND MY BIRTHDAY!!! :present: :) :star: , I wanted to see what you guys thought about the "event" (if you went).

I realized that by the time i posted this thread, some ppl still wouldnt have their book yet in West Coast hehe

When I went to get my present, which my sister was nice enough to give to me, the place was packed, and i was there from 12-1:30, and i finally got my book. Some people were dressed in odd outfits, some which looked like as if they belonged to LOTR not HP.

Surprisingly, Borders had enough copies with quite a few leftovers..I even got free lindt chocolate while waiting :)

Harry Potter came out?!?! Btw, who is Harry Potter?

just kidding

Happy Birthday!!

Happy Birthday. I ended up watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at 12am, but saw some pictures on CNN. Is there another book in history that had this same effect?

thanks guys....

The only book i can think of which had more of an effect was the bible, obviously...

The book is quite sad, a lot of the younger readers will be sad after reading it

Apparenlt according to a friend of mine who works in Borders , at midnight there were about 1000 ppl in the store and aboutr 500 waiting to come in , they had the books under lock and key and there was mayhem.
Sigh this is what i hate about masses behaving like sheep, surely we have become too driven by implanted ideals.

Sigh Rant over , every person who was there that night to buy the book should watch Fight Club

apocalypse.. i wish you didn't say that.. now I'm going to be knowing something really bad is going to happen.... arg! I must supress all urges to flip to the back of the book.

Someone on the show Jimmy Kimmel Live was reading the ending on air! It was hilarious. This being said I still have one question... why is so great about Harry Potter that you would wait @ 12 midnight for one book that's going to be there the next day... are you really gonna read it @ 2 a.m.? I'm not making fun of you, just curious i guess. I feel like the only one that hasn't caught onto the craze. :)

no you aren't the only one. People just don't like the genre.. and thats ok. I didn't wait at 12am to get the book.. i waited for the mail man to bring it. I read it like any other book I want to read.. it just so happens this book is going all crazy everywhere.

I'm not sure about other people, but I read about 80 pages that morning, and then went to sleep, and read another 400 pages that day....

Plus, nothing like a good book to read on your birthday
:)
