Hawking HWU54D Wireless-G USB Adapter for $5 after rebate at Microcenter

Microcenter has the Hawking Technologies Wireless G USB Adapter for $5 after rebate $24.99 - $20 Rebate). Click here for more details. Use in-store pickup to avoid the ~$5 shipping (if you are lucky enough to have a MC store nearby).

Note: The picture shown on Microcenter is incorrect. For details on the Adapter visit Hawking Tech.

Have fun.

I'm sure there's only one after all of the problems they had a while back with another antenna and CompUSA. I did see a good improvement in the signal with my wife's computer when we put a FAR hawking antenna.

not with this particular item, but yup, i ordered from microcenter once, thought the order went thru, but then they sent me the same message about them not having the item in stock & that i could order it online (+ pay shipping)

they didn't charge my credit card, & i just bought the item from another store.

FYI the USB card is junk and so is the software drivers for it. It was right next to my router and the signal was 90%. As I walked away for about 20+ feet the signal dropped quickly. The antenna booster may be ok, but my Belkin router which I got for more than free AR doesn't have the coax cable hookup that the antenna requires. Hope that helps.

I also placed the order online for store pickup, still to receive any confirmation. I called the local microcenter and they had it in stock so purchased it directly, same price as online.

Additionally, the picture shown on the Microcenter website is correct, they have put the wrong Manufacturer Part Number. The Part Number is HWU54G.

BTW, I tested the adapter and it the signal strength was excellent; was even able to connect to two neighbouring networks (which were unsecured!). One thing that I did was to allow Windows to configure the network rather than using the application that came with the adapter.

not with microcenter Santa Clara

not with microcenter Santa Clara (Mercado Center, 3255 Mission College Blvd., Santa Clara, CA 95054); item was "out-of-stock".

I just ordered mine. I've been waiting for a deal on a Wireless USB adapter for 802.11g. Thanks Mr. El Cheapo! :)

Now they are out of stock online as well. I guess it's not so bad since the promotion goes until July 31st! Hope it comes soon though, my current wireless adapter can't even do 11mbps because it's USB 1.1.
