My kids have been asking for 'heelys'....any comments, deals, experience, thoughts on these??

Hi, just wanted to give a little first-hand info on Heely's. My son got some earlier this month. They are pretty cool, took him a few days to get the hang of it. They are made more for inside smooth surfaces. He's not allowed to wear them with wheels at school (you can actually take the wheels out easily and put a plug in them) and just recently he was asked not to be on his heels at the mall. So there are not too many places to wear them. But they are still fun and he enjoys them. I haven't seen too many deals on these yet.

My problem with them is that they are not treated like a sports type activity. Kids are zooming around on wheels with no protective gear. Not very safe. (Not to mention that many kids using them are inconsiderate of others around them. Going too fast, zipping in and out of groups of people, that kind of stuff.) My kids will not be getting these.

I think these are ridiculous.. I can't even go shopping without a kid zipping by. I've seen atleast 10 in the last month fall and hurt themselves. I think this is a walking hazard!
