I can't believe I'm posting this. I'm always so careful about this kind of thing and yet I ended up with a mouse in my house. Anyone have some suggestions of really good products to get rid of it?

Here's the funny part. Because I'm so freaked about anythng creepy crawly, I have every little tiny space plugged up with steel wool. So how did it get in? Ran right by me when I opened the door. I guess that's a good thing, because I know where it came from and don't have to deal with finding it's next or hole in the wall. But now I want it out. Out like in dead. I'm sorry to any animal lovers, but I want this thing out gone forever.

So best working poisons and traps? I don't have any pets or children so there's no problem with laying out poisons. Anyone have suggestions? Thank you.

Get a couple of good ol' mouse traps bait them with a small piece of cheese and place it so that the trigger is directly against the wall. Place the trap perpendicular to the wall (like a T).

Peanut butter works better than cheese. The smell of the PB attracts them. Poisons work but if they don't have a way to get out (the poisons make them thirsty) they might die in your wall and then smell really bad for some days. If the snap trap doesn't get them you can use the glue trays. I try not to because I think they are a little cruel.

I get and get rid of mice every year when the weather changes - hot to cold, cold to hot, dry to wet. I'm just happy to have mice because I know I don't have rats (rats eat mice). Mice are easier to trap.

Just don't get the sticky traps. We caught one like this and it was horrid! It was alive but barely when we tried to get it off..long story short it ended up not being very humane at all.

We've caught the most mice without trying. Had a big trashcan full of dog food. When the level dropped enough that they could get in, but couldn't get back out. We caught the whole family. ...several times because if you're going with the catch and release like I make my dh do...apparently they can find their way back unless you "release" them real far.

First...you get a watermelon....

then ... blow it up

These do work the best and they are very inexpensive. I have used this type. When you pick it up your hand is nowhere near the dead body - I am also freaked out by these little critters!

oh yes...mice. we had them when we had construction going on. cheese definitely didn't work for this one. peanut butter was better option....although he managed to lick the peanut butter off without setting off the spring. what the heck? my husband put out a glue trap....against my wishes. he caught it, along with some scary looking, writhing spiders too. :faint: my mouse was jumping in my trash can to pull out pistachio shells. He had a little pile of shells under the guest room bed...and we heard him nibbling on them. he was so cute. mind you, his poop wasn't. make sure you wipe up the poop with a wet disinfecting wipe. don't vaccuum it. lots of disease potential. good luck. :rip:

If you have one you probably have ten. You only see that one mouse. Bait works fine, depends on if you have pets.

Victor also makes a great trap like the style MadonnaP featured in her post, baited with peanut butter they are quite effective. Good Luck

Agree. Peanut butter with regular old snapper trap works the best.......but I also like diGriz's idea.

I bought a small vacuum cleaner from walmart once, had a little mouse INSIDE of the box!! He ran out as soon as I opened the box, bout had a heart attack too! we caught him using good ole peanut butter. little critter yuckkkkkkkkyyyyyyyyy

:yikes: I would move :scared:

Get a tall paper bag & put some peanut butter in the bottom, put the bag near some stairs. The mouse jumps in but can't jump out.

Can't mice chew paper???

If you remove "paper bag" and insert "five gallon bucket" - it should work
