Help... I think I down loaded a virus!

Help... I think I down loaded a virus! What shold I do? Hubby is going to kill me.... If you suddenly don't hear from me for a while, you'll know what happened! :nonod:

Snibble we are currently on week three of this cr*p in my house! Right after Microsoft announced a possible breech( around 12/17) and that a patch would forthcoming~BOOM!~we have had viruses, trojans, infections you name it. Still trying to resolve all residual issues but we downloaded "Malware bytes" and it has been incredibly helpful.

Good luck. Almost $300 later and well over a week the Geeks are still cleaning my pc. They said it was finally ready today, but when I went to pick it up and they tried to remove the last of my old spyware program they decided that one of the virus's must have corrupted the disc and now it's going to take another two days to clean and restore it back to the defaults when I bought it three years ago. I lose all data (fortunately I have everything backed up) and any programs that I've installed-luckily none but free web ones.

And now something is wrong with my laptop. My Internet Explorer is giving me problems. It stops running frequently and I can no longer open any attachements in my email-jpeg, .pdf...nothing. Sometimes it doesn't even want to load my emails at all.

Anyone else have this problem?

ALMOST FORGOT-SNIBBLE I'M ASSUMING THE FIRST THING YOU DID WAS RUN YOUR ANTIVIRUS SCAN?

Seriously, I am assuming that DH got your computer fixed, or do you need Jimmy to come tomorrow to work on it?

Wow, I need to up my rates 500% and my wait times 400% for the same service. Dang. I knew Geek Squad was expensive, but...wow! :ack:

Do an online virus scan: http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner

This should give you a starting point. If you need further help, PM me. I'll be checking on and off here throughout the day.

I paid $120.00 to have my computer fixed. They moved out my music and pictures.....erased everything on the computer. Cleaned the pictures and music, put it back and reinstalled all my programs. My computer was ready the next day.

If anyone needs help in Michigan, let me know.
 
We had the same problem around the week of Christmas with my son's computer, it was redirecting the browser, I sat there about a week trying to clean and reinstalling the os but it had itself mapped into the motherboard and reinstalling itself (the virus).

After the 5th day sitting there till 4 in morning, I gave it up and put him on another computer!

Okay... I'm still alive. I still do not have a computer. I was home with pink eye. I'm at work today... surfing the net! :teeth:
Hubby has some IT guy from work looking at the computer. He says everytime he deletes it . it comes back... nasty bug! :mad:

Yea! Mine is finally fixed and running. Wiped out, but fixed.
