Hi All ..

I am an IT guy working in San Diego. I am hoping to move to Austin, Texas in the next few months.. Looking back it was a real bad idea to move to San Diego.. what was i thinking.. here a 2 BR condo is 350K !!! so we are renting..
12 hundred bucks a month !

I have never been to Austin before but the area IT jobs looks hot and the real estate hotter !

please please comment on your thoughts about Austin !

If not, do recommend other places in America.

Thank you

central california is really growing, and we're north of you just a few hours- you should come up and visit fresno. 2 br condos are about half the price you're paying there, and a very nice 3/2 house is about 350-400 (depending on the area, you can still find them for under 300).

Austin is a nice place. I have visited there a couple of times. I live about 3 hours away from there. The real estate is definately cheaper there compared to where you are at. I am not sure about the IT job openings but if you have an offer for a position already I would take it. :) :bigok:

Thank you.

Thank you for your responses.

I am moving out of San Diego !!!

Cheers

keep it up....we'll get cheney to hunt quail in your hood....:)

I'm not sure which IT position you're after, but for some IT jobs, they're hot everywhere, especially in financial/banking industry. Real-estate-wise, from the people there (because my company's headquarter is in Austin), it depends on the areas. Some areas are bad, even declining in values, some are good. You need to talk to realtors to identify.

Austin is a very nice place. Its got lots of arts, music, culture. The people are very community involved, and it seems like most of the older folks do a lot of volunteer work. I dont know about real estate or jobs, but the plpace itself is nice.

I'm in Austin too. Not sure what type of jobs you're after but I could put your resume in where I work. There are a variety of positions you may be interested in. We're almost always hiring. PM me and I'll send you my email address so we can discuss more.
