Hey guys! I've been popping on and off these few days but haven't realy been talking. Just wondering how you guys are doing. Things have been rough here though. Piper has reflux so she's been crying all the time. We thought it was colic but I've been doing some research and I believe from the symptoms she's having she has reflux. It's heartburn and you all must know how uncomfortable that is. Anyways I was wondering though if anyone out here has experienced this with a child? I wanted to know if there was a way to kind of relieve it? With me when I get heartburn I take tums or whatever, but you can't really give that to a baby ya-know. Any suggestions? I'll try to get on more often but I can't promise nothing. I will though, try my best to at least say hi every now and again and just let you all know how things are going here with us! Anyways I gotta go again for now, thanks for everything!

I know with heartburn it's worst when you lay down so I would keep her propped up as much as possible. Also maybe smaller more frequent feedings. I found this website on heartburn in infants.

Maybe this will help. My first one was colicky and had terrible gas pains so I know how ya feel.

I have a cousin who had a child with colic/gastric reflux. She went through months of trying to figure out what to do- changing formulas... warm rice on the tummy... whatever! You name it- they tried it. Their doctor, who was reluctant to do medication, finally prescribed "baby tagament". That did the trick! Oh my goodness! It took care of everything! My cousin was so relieved yet so mad that she had to go through months of sheer torture when this medicine was all her child needed.

I don't know your personality type, but I know I would feel utter defeat if I couldn't "take care of the problem" by myself and would be reluctant to ask my doctor for help. DON'T BE LIKE THAT :) !!! Talk to your doctor!

I wish you better fortune diagnosing/treating Piper!

Good Luck!

(BTW: If you are breast feeding... you may want to keep track of what you are eating. Whenever I ate salad/green veges, I swear my daughter had more gas than other times!)

Thanks so much guys! I got help from the link and I also do plan to take to Piper's doctor soon! I'll be sure to ask about baby tagament. It's not just all the crying that frustrates me, it's knowing she's in pain that really kills. I have tried alot of things already but still it doesn't seem to help any, like sitting her up for an hour after feeding and even letting her sleep in her carseat so she isn't lying flat. I tried warm formula and a warm compress on her chest. Nothing seems to help. But I'm sure I'll figure out a way, but hopefully it will be fast! I don't think I can bare to see she screaming in pain any longer.

I found with my kids, when they were 'uncomfortable' with gas, etc., sometimes I'd let them sleep or hangout in their car seats (the carrying one). A friend of mine, both her kids had severe acid reflux, Doc said to 'elevate the head' in the lying down position. This prevents (or hinders) the gastric juices from travelling up the esophagus.

Elevating the mattress - do it from underneath to avoid any sufficating material or elevate the 'head' crib legs with a 2x4 to 'tilt' the whole crib. (no chance of suffocating material). **This remedy also works for congestion! Gravity keeps the 'fluids' in check! ;) Babies breathe better :)

Good luck!

Can you tell I've got 4???
