Okay, so this is barely on topic, but I still dont get these 15 in 1, (and even like 24 in 1) readers. Can anyone list me 15 kinds of memory cards? All I got is xD, SD, MMC, Mem stick, CF, MicroDrive, and I think thats it..

this is far, far from a good deal...600.00? this pc is worth 275 at best!

The computer price is pretty reasonable. The processor is Quad Core which retails by itself for ~300 from newegg. It's a fairly solid computer. I would recommend spending the extra $60 for the video card for Vista. Vista is also much happier with 2 gb of ram (thats cheaper to buy separately).

This is actually a pretty good deal, if you are into a turn-key system. It would cost the same/more to build it yourself. Granted, you would get higher quality components and more customization, but you would also get a more complicated warranty and a lot more hassle.

$600 for a full-blown quad-core system. Man, I remember seven years ago. $600 got a Gateway with a 633mhz Celeron, 128MB RAM, a 20gb hdd, and Win98SE. My how times have changed.

'The processor is Quad Core which retails by itself for ~300 from'

Are you sure? It says core-duo

Yup. It says Core 2 Duo. Not Quadro. Problem is, that the description up there says its a Q6600, and that is a Core 2 Quad. But the description up there also says Core 2 Duo, which is the Q6500. You start with a Core 2 Duo. Upgrading to the Q6600 costs an additional $150. That makes the machine $1000 and then you use the $400 coupon.

Wish I was in the market for a new desktop.

But wait.. $750 + 150 is only $900... How can you use the $1000 coupon code?

I have the 8100y E6850 and paid 649. with two gig for a couple of months. Just waiting for the new graphics cards to come out and will get aThermaltake Purepower Power Express 250 Watt W0099. I like this better then the Dell. I have the 4100,4600 and the 6000d. The hp 8100y had a great review fromPc magazine Nov6 issue. I think they were talking about it with the Hd dvd and gave it 4 1/2 red dots out of 5

Lbs?

Anyone have any idea how much one of these desktops would weigh? Trying to figure out if I could fit it into my luggage and smuggle abroad.

Just what I needed.

Even though the coupon has now expired, I just wanted to post this response. The $400 coupon replaced a $100 instant rebate, so the base price was really $849, not $749.

I had been looking at this model for a few weeks now to replace my aging Dell Dimension 8300. I wanted a little more than the base system, so I upgraded to 2GB RAM, which included a free upgrade from 2GB to 3GB, added a larger internal hard drive and a better video card. This is what I ended up with for $920 delivered:

- HP Pavilion Media Center m8100y PC with
- Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit)
- Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Quad processor Q6600 (2.4GHz)
- FREE UPGRADE to 3GB DDR2-667MHz dual channel SDRAM (2x1024,2x512) from 2GB
- 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 8500GT, TV-out, DVI-I, HDMI
- 802.11 b/g USB Wireless LAN card & USB external modem
- 500GB 7200 rpm SATA 3Gb/s hard drive
- LightScribe 16X max. DVD+/-R/RW SuperMulti drive
- 15-in-1 memory card reader, 2 USB, 1394, video
- ATSC-NTSC TV tuner with PVR, FM tuner, remote
- Integrated 7.1 channel sound w/front audio ports
- Norton Internet Security(TM) 2007 - 15 Months
- Microsoft(R) Works 8.0
- HP keyboard and HP scroller mouse

8100y HP

Hay! I just bought the HP 8100Y pc from the online HP store. I did customize the machine to my likings and it is an absolutely "kick-ass" machine!!!I did all the top of the line upgrades offered in each category and got the 24" swivel flat screen monitor, the TV out, DVI-I, HDMI with remote and let me tell you all this..."THIS IS CASH WELL SPENT!" I have been researching pc for a while now, to upgrade from the one I have. I do not have so much as a little hick-up , flicker or hesitation with this system, and there's nothing but raw power, accuracy and high performance! It truly is an amazing machine. And...it comes from one of the most reputable companies there is...HP! AND... there CS dept. is impeccable! Nothing but fast, reliable service. And with my first HP, my service contract ran out about 6-8 months before I had a little problem I needed help with, and they did not turn me away nor charge me for any service via online that I needed and it was just as fast and accurate and if my contract was still active! They really are to be commended for their machines and their dedication to their customers! I haven't had such great experiences with Dell and definitely not Gateway! Especially on the C.S. dept.
Anyway, this is a fantastic machine even in it's base configuration! And if you are interested in getting it at the base configuration, go through the customization list because there are some free upgrades offered that are pretty good!I am buying the HP A6210Z for my 13 year old and they offered a few really good free upgrades from the configuration list along with some personalization skins for the machine as a promo. Really cool for a boy, not so much for a girl! ;o) Anyway, I hope this was helpful and it really is a great machine! Take care and...

" Happy Holidays to Everyone Out There!!!"
