Looks like Hurricane Dean is scheduled to hit the Texas Coastline Wednesday into Thursday. To any Spoofee members and their families, I hope you are well prepared, protected, and, have enough supplies and shelters. Seems this hurricane has slammed the Caribbean, is hitting the Yucatan, and, next stop is Texas. Sure hope it doesn't turn, and, hit New Orleans et.al. Keeping you all in my prayers, be safe and well. Check in and let us know how you fair out. Rags :worry:

Thank the gods its not coming near us! Whew. I was all packed up and ready to go. I have two full gas cans and all my food and water plus dog and lizard foods and meds. I was red'ta go.

WHEW!

I was wondering if my good friends were gonna be okay down South. The course for Dean seems rather projected and set, still very frightening. We are getting pelted here on the Island with rains, not from the hurricane. I am watching for flooding. My dining room looks like a war zone with boxes of food, supplies, and, cases of water. Just stocked up more stuff today. Shucks, September and October have not arrived here yet, and, November brings in the Nor'easters right up the Chesapeake Bay! :worry: I keep Jeb's foods really well stocked, and medications for Grandmom and me at least a month ahead so we are ready to go. I can't complain about the rains. So many of the wells here in the state of Maryland are going dry that the Governor has issued a Federal Asst. program to help folks dig new ones. Sure hope we don't flood here, it is sooooooooo very dry that it will run off and surge. Almost lost my house to Hurricane Isabell in Sept. 2003. Watch my neighbors houses slide into the Bay! Next move I make will not be to live on the water!! :worry:

Good luck Rags. I dont wish flooding on anyone. Well, almost anyone. :p

Mexico's getting a good pummeling, but I don't think many people are left there.

Made landfall as a Cat 5 storm in the Yucatan. Its expected to hit Mexico as a Cat 3. I hate to admit it, but Im glad its them and not us.

What about Lousianna? Shoot, did they get their leevees up in time?

Nope. We sure didnt.

Man if another storm comes through here any time soon, we are all screwed. If that happens, Im not coming back. Im moving away and moving on.

I think a lot of people are thinking that..even if they don't live down there.

a category 1 storm could potentially destroy the town. The levees were built wrong, the brilliant engineers didn't take the soil type into account. So they had to start over again. They're expected to be done in a few years. (could be wrong, but thats what I remember.) Such brilliance is before us!
I want to give someone a swift kick in the ass and mock them mercilessly!

FWIW, the Army Corps of Engineers (which is the main reason our levees were breached) is the same 'organization' thats generally believed to be responsible for all those houses in CA falling off the side of that mountain a few years back. If thats the best of the best, we are screwed as a nation.
